Our Story
ASIS aims to serve as the catalyst for helping youths and adults affected by adverse
childhood experiences (ACEs) through the provision of social-emotional learning (SEL) training and education. ACEs, encompassing persistent and traumatic situations endured during childhood, profoundly impact individuals' brain development and overall health into adulthood. These experiences, occurring between ages 1 and 17, can contribute to long-term mental and chronic health conditions.
Recognizing the significant influence of SEL training and education on comprehensive development, ASIS strives to initiate this transformative effort. By equipping young minds with essential tools for effective communication, emotional resilience, and nurturing positive relationships, ASIS seeks to foster a future where every youth in the U.S. Virgin Islands can thrive socially, academically, and personally. This initiative is guided by both research insights and educational aspirations, aiming to empower individuals impacted by ACEs to achieve holistic growth and well-being.
